As the youngest of 8 siblings, Dr. Sowale faced the profound loss of his father at an early age, instilling in him a deep understanding of the vital role fathers play in child-rearing and societal development.

His debut book, The Mirror, draws on his reflections on parenthood framed by the Yoruba proverb equating mothers to gold and fathers to mirrors. This metaphor emphasizes the essential nature of nurturing father-child relationships and highlights the respect children owe their fathers as figures of self-reflection.
Dr. Sowale identifies as a grace-filled son, friend, husband, father, counselor, evangelist, writer, chaplain, and adventurous child of God. His path in life began in the nurturing environment of a seminary, where he attended both elementary and high school at Immanuel College in Ibadan. Outside of his professional commitments, Moses enjoys playing lawn tennis, participating in online soccer leagues, and engaging in networking opportunities. He is happily married to Comfort, and together they are blessed with two boys.

Dr. Moses Sowale is the author of The Mirror, a deeply reflective work inspired by his insights on parenthood. The title is rooted in the Yoruba proverb, “Iya ni Wura, Baba ni Digi,” portraying mothers as gold and fathers as mirrors. This metaphor raises essential questions surrounding paternal relationships and the children’s responsibilities in valuing their fathers.
Additionally, Dr. Sowale has written numerous academic theses, and articles including ‘When the Lion Befriends the Lamb; Empowerment of Women in a Patriarchal Society; the Yorubas as a Case Study,’ The Quarry site experience, The humility of God, Faith is a risk and many inspiring writings.
Awards
Outstanding Faith, Justice, and Leadership Award (2016): Presented by the South Shore Leadership Conference in recognition of his remarkable contributions to the community.
Jonathan M. Daniels Fellowship Award (2013): Awarded by the Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, MA, to honor Dr. Sowale’s impactful work in Brockton and with The Voice project.

By sharing my personal stories—embracing both triumphs and challenges—I aim to inspire others to view their narratives as sacred and life-giving. My goal is to foster transformative communities where individuals can thrive spiritually, socially, and emotionally, equipping them to live purposeful and fulfilled lives.
Academics
Dr. Sowale’s educational journey began at Immanuel College Primary and High School in Ibadan, where he completed both his elementary and high school education. He pursued a degree in Electrical Engineering at Kwara State Polytechnic before returning to Immanuel College of Theology for his seminary studies.
He obtained a bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies from the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, from 2003 to 2006. His dedication to pastoral care and human liberation led him to further his education in the United States, earning a Master’s degree in Pastoral Ministry (Care and Counseling) from Boston College in 2009.
In August 2014, Dr. Sowale successfully completed and defended his thesis project, “When the Lion Befriends the Lamb; Empowerment of Women in a Patriarchal Society; the Yorubas as a Case Study,” culminating in his Doctor of Ministry degree from the Episcopal Divinity School, Cambridge, Massachusetts.

By getting to the root of matters, I aim to build a solid foundation for myself and those I mentor.
Value for Fatherhood+
I recognize the vital role that fathers play as role models and mirrors for their children. I believe in the necessity of positive and healthy masculine influence in developing the next generation. I strive to embody this role in my own life, encouraging other fathers to engage meaningfully with their children and to promote a legacy of strong, compassionate, and responsible manhood.
The Inward Journey+
I see the goal of life as a dual path of discovering both God and myself. I understand that as I deepen my relationship with God, I also deepen my awareness and understanding of who I am. I believe that this self-discovery reinforces a spiritual connection, leading me to a closer relationship with the divine.

I embrace my uniqueness and value the insights offered by the Theology of Uniqueness. Through my curriculum, the Identity, Educational, Spiritual and Social Plan (IESSP), I teach that true equality can be achieved without requiring everyone to be the same. My greatest ambition is to share my stories, embracing both their glory and imperfections, in order to give others permission to honor their own narratives as sacred and life-affirming.
